Frequently Asked Questions

You can deliver your document by email or post. Simply scan or take a picture of your document and email or upload it on our website. Once we have translated your documents, we will send you a draft for approval by e-mail. The final version is then sent by e-mail and/or post/courier, depending on your needs.

Our fees are very competitive and we give a firm quote before the commissioning of any translation project.

Our pricing for translation projects is determined by several factors:

  • Word count of source text
  • Complexity of the subject matter
  • Language combination
  • Format of texts
  • Turnaround time

Send us your whole document and make sure it is legible. If you are working with source material that is faded or hard to decipher, please try to optimise its readability by making the appropriate adjustments (darkening or enlarging it) on your scanner, before sending the documents to us.

Tell us where your translation are going. This is especially important for Spanish, Portuguese and French translations.

Give us a realistic amount of time for your translation project. Plan your translation project with our commitment to quality in mind and bear in mind that in certain languages, there is only a few translators available.

Let us know how you would like your translation delivered. We need to know if your translation should be delivered in Microsoft Word, PDF or some other format.

We will always do our very best to get translations back to you as quickly as possible. Make sure that you discuss your deadline with us.

As a rough guide, most of our translators can manage around 2,000 words per day, but other factors such as the availability of the translator, if the translation requires research and if the text requires a lot of formatting also needs to be taken into account.

Standard turn-around time for 1-4 pages only, is usually 3 – 4 working days.

Express translation service (25%-50% surcharge applies), usually takes 1 – 2 working days for eligible documents.

We accept the following payment methods:

  • Bank transfer
  • PayPal
  • Major credit cards (Visa and MasterCard)

At Certified Language Translation Services, all our translators and project managers are bound by commercial confidentiality and corporate non-disclosure agreements. This ensures that we are sensitive to the classified nature of industry designs and strategies. We are also happy to sign your non-disclosure or confidentiality agreement.

NAATI is the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters in Australia. NAATI is responsible for setting, monitoring the professional standards and it accredits interpreters and translators in Australia.

We are able to certify the translation of any document we translate and a certified translation is generally requested to comply with regulatory requirements.

We supply certified translations that are accepted by all institutions throughout Australia, including but not limited to:

  • Department of Immigration and Citizenship
  • Australian Courts (including Family Courts)
  • Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
  • Department of Transport and Main Roads (except NSW)
  • Medical Board of Australia
  • Dental Board of Australia
  • QTAC

To certify a document is to vouch for its contents. We cannot certify translations performed by yourself or other translators without proofing the translation against the source document.

We support both PC and MAC platforms. We also support a wide array of operating systems and desktop publishing software. We can work with documents in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF and many other formats. If you have technical questions about our ability to handle your project, please contact us to discuss the specifics.

Your website and/or marketing material is often the first contact you have with a new potential client. First impressions are important, so it is equally important to get your website translation right the first time.

This kind of translation is more, than just translating the text on your website into another language. You also need to think about how your message and pictures will come across. Our localisation service makes sure that your marketing is appropriate for the culture where it will be used, with meaningful cultural references and language patterns that people will recognise and feel comfortable with.

Localisation is the process of modifying a product, a website or software so that it is linguistically and culturally appropriate to the country or region where it will be used.

Localisation is more complex, because it involves cultural adaptation and requires in-depth knowledge of the local culture.

Documents are translated in either extract or full, depending on your requirements. A full translation is, where all information is translated word for word. An extract translation is, where the most relevant information is extracted and translated into a template.

Overseas governments sometimes need proof that Australian documents, or the signatures of Australian officials on documents, are genuine before they will accept them. This is called an Apostille.

It is important to get this advice by the overseas government you are dealing with, or with those countries that have embassies and/or consulates in Australia.

If you need an apostille, then this is required, before getting your Australian document translated, as this stamp will also need to be translated as part of the document.
