There are many books that are now being translated into different languages to allow children of different nationalities to read and enjoy them. We have picked some of the best-known ones and our favourite books.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
Written by English author Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is now one of the most popular children’s books in history and has received awards and sold millions of copies worldwide. The book has now been translated into over 174 different languages and is available all over the world for purchase and reading.
Almost everyone you speak to has heard of Harry Potter. The Author J.K Rowling has supplied us with a series of books that are full of magic and excitement. The books and now movies are popular all over the world and have sold millions of copies. Due to the popularity of the books, they have now been translated into over 80 different languages and can be accessed all over the world. J.K Rowling never thought it would become as popular as it has.
The Adventures of TinTin
The adventures of TinTin was originally published in 1929 and since then there has been another 24 volumes added to the series. The stories were written by a Belgium author by the name of Herge. The stories are about a 15-year-old boy with dreams and the adventures he gets up to. Due to the popularity of the books, they are now available in over 110 different languages.
The adventures of Pippi Longstocking
Swedish author Astrid Lindgren came up with the story of Pippi Longstocking in 1945 and it is the adventures of a 9-year-old girl. The book is widely popular and has since been made into a movie and a remake of the movie. The book in available worldwide in over 75 languages.
Little Red Riding Hood
The Brothers Grimm listened to many traditional stories from old people and they ended up in a book. Everyone knows the story of Little Red Riding Hood and for good reason. It is a short and fun book that everyone can get involved with. It is a story that has been around for some time and is now available in over 50 languages.
Many of the Disney movies either started out as books or have had books created after the movies were released. Disney is well known across the world and because of the popularity they have ensured that they are accessible to those who would like to read them. Their books are available in more than 37 languages and the most popular ones are Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and The Beauty and the Beast.
Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales
The stories of this Danish writer have become classics of the genre. This collection of his works from 1835 to 1852 has been translated into 153 languages. Andersen wrote no fewer than 3381 works throughout his lifetime. Andersen’s tales of mermaids, ducklings, demons, and emperors have been translated from Abkhazian to Zulu.
